Photo thumbnails come to the map

Reminiscio makes the map more visual with photo previews, clearer nearby memories and easier navigation between posts in the same place.

The Reminiscio map helps you find memories through the places that shaped them. Until now, it mainly showed where your posts were. It now becomes more visual: photo memories can appear directly as thumbnails on the map.

The goal is simple: recognize a moment faster, without opening every marker to understand what it contains.

A more visual map

When a photo memory has a location, Reminiscio can now show its image directly inside the map marker. The thumbnail still acts as a marker, but it also gives an immediate preview of the associated memory.

This is especially useful when several memories are spread across a city, a neighborhood or a trip. Instead of seeing only icons, you can distinguish moments by image: a facade, a landscape, a table, a street, a detail that brings the context back.

Text and audio memories still use their usual icons, keeping the different formats easy to read.

Better handling for memories in the same place

Some places gather several memories: a home, a vacation address, a restaurant, a square or a starting point. The map now handles these cases better.

When several photos are close together and the zoom level allows it, Reminiscio can visually separate them around the location so they do not overlap. This makes it easier to tap the right memory and understand what is there.

When several posts remain tied to the same address, a selection sheet opens. It shows the memories from that place with their title, date, location and, when possible, a small photo thumbnail. You can then choose exactly which post to open.

More natural navigation

Selecting a memory from the map has also been adjusted. Tapping a thumbnail opens the matching memory, going back closes the selection cleanly, and groups of posts in the same place can be dismissed without losing the map context.

On Android, the back button now understands these states: it closes the active group or selected memory before leaving the screen. Exploration feels closer to expected mobile behavior.

Reliable previews on mobile

Displaying photos inside map markers needs a little more care than showing a simple icon. Reminiscio prepares marker images so they load correctly, including on Android, and falls back to a simpler display if an image cannot load.

The point is not to add decoration. Thumbnails should stay useful, readable and quick to understand while you move around the map.

A new way to revisit places

With thumbnails, the map becomes less abstract. It no longer only shows points: it gives a glimpse of the moments that live in each place.

Zoom into an area, recognize a photo, open the memory, then return to the map and continue exploring. It is a more direct way to revisit a trip, a city, or the places that keep appearing in your story.

Reminiscio keeps bringing memories closer to their places, with a map that tells you more before you even open a post.
